COMOX VALLEY'S WATER GATEWAY TO COURTENAY - OCEAN SIDE CONDOMINIUM AND RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX IS ON THE HORIZON

FCC Promotes a New Condominium and Housing on a High Bank Site Overlooking the Georgia Strait

Monday April 4th, 2011
Courtenay, B.C.

Foundation Capital (FCC), Canada's second largest Real Estate Syndication Corporation in Canada, is pursuing the development and associated land annexation to Courtenay for a terraced, sustainable $80,000,000 Housing and Condominium project with roof gardens on an escarpment site overlooking the Georgia Strait near the Powel River Ferry Terminal. FCC, a division of the Harvest Group of companies, assembles quality real estate projects and invites investors to participate. Harbourview Landing is one such project.

The site is only minutes away from the recently announced hospital site and will provide a new and unique housing alternative for the Comox Valley. Annexation to Courtenay is actively being sought with the Development Permit Application pending immediately following.

Condominium suites ranging in size from an attainable 600 square feet to Penthouse suites over 3000 square feet as well as 17 large residential single family homes are being proposed for the site on Jackson Drive just above the Powell River Ferry Terminal.

The site was designated within the Settlement Expansion Area in the recently approved Regional Growth Strategy. Both the annexation and the Development Permit application will be based on the present condominium and housing design.

The project will offer unique housing options with very spacious roof garden terraces that step up on successive floors and are accessed through oversized sliding doors intended to expand the suite to the outdoors. The suites are designed for health and well-being as the primary criteria and by providing exceptional access to natural and outdoor environments.

Al Fritz, the project Architect states, "After 24 years in condominium design, the new Harbourview Landing site is the most ideal site for a multi-family residential project which responds to the natural environment our team has experienced. The architecture is being taken to the next level blurring the line between interior and exterior and nurturing this affinity from the Georgia Strait to the second growth Sitka spruce stand, to the landscaped terraces, and ultimately to the interiors finished in natural materials.”

The roof gardens and the terraced design will cause the building to blend with its environment reducing its visual impact on the area and the West Coast inspired architecture will be in keeping with aesthetic sensitivities for the region.

Located only minutes away from the Comox Airport, which accommodates Westjet, the site is also located within three minutes of the recently announced newly proposed $500 million hospital.

The project will offer positive opportunities to the local construction industry and to the many interested families that enjoy water, mountain, and vineyard views.

Comox Valley Developers Dialogue: "Excellent format allowed for a variety of ideas, questions and comments to flow easily and freely", says Kip Keylock

The non-formal setting made everyone comfortable in sharing comments, whether positive or negative. This is certainly appreciated among the building and development community.
